About the Role
OBJECTIVE
The Staff Accountant is responsible for day-to-day accounting tasks such as maintaining financial records, preparing financial reports, reconciling bank statements, managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), and assisting with the monthly closing process, providing a clear picture of a company's financial health to management through accurate reporting. This position is full time 100% in-office.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Financial record keeping: Maintaining accurate general ledger records by recording financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payroll, and expenses.
• Account reconciliation: Reconciling all general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
• Financial reporting: Preparing and analyzing various financial reports like income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Accounts payable management: Processing vendor invoices, managing due dates, and making payments. Reconcile monthly credit card usage for corporate accounts.
• Accounts receivable management: Generating customer invoices, tracking outstanding balances, and following up on collections.
• Payroll processing: Assisting with payroll calculations, tax deductions, and generating payroll reports.
• Tax preparation: Preparing and filing sales/use tax and personal property taxes.
• Fixed asset accounting: Tracking and maintaining records of company fixed assets.
• Month-end close procedures: Participating in the monthly closing process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Audit support: Assisting with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
Requirements
· Associate degree or higher, Accounting or Business Administration; OR Minimum 1-3 years of experience in staff accountant type role or similar position, with high school diploma.
· SAGE300 ERP experience required.
· Outlook suite experience (heavy on Excel) required.
· Procore experience is a plus.
· Analytical skills with predictive analysis.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Good communication skills (verbal and written) to interact with different departments and stakeholders.
· Multi-tasking proficiency.
· Understanding of the construction industry and union requirements is a plus.
