About the Role
The Audit Accountant will be responsible for performing audit and assurance services for a diverse range of clients, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional growth, allowing the candidate to gain exposure to a variety of industries while working closely with clients and the audit team to deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform audit fieldwork for a variety of clients, including small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or other relevant frameworks.
- Conduct internal control testing, substantive testing, and other audit procedures to assess the financial health and compliance of clients.
- Identify and address potential audit issues, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Communicate with clients to request documentation, discuss findings, and provide updates on audit progress.
- Assist in the preparation of audit reports and presentations for management and clients.
- Work closely with team members to ensure efficient and effective audit planning, execution, and completion.Stay informed of changes in auditing standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Participate in client meetings and provide insights regarding financial performance and operational improvements.Assist with other assurance and consulting services as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or in progress).
Knowledge of auditing standards (GAAP, GAAS, etc.) and procedures.
Familiarity with audit software experience with tools like CaseWare, ProSystem fx, or similar is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to analyze financial data, identify trends, and interpret results.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Additional Qualifications:
CPA certification or in the process of obtaining CPA certification--public accounting experience is preferred but not required.
Previous experience with auditing, financial statement preparation, or assurance services.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
